Several roads in the capital city will be closed on Tuesday during the memorial service for the late Daniel Arap Moi.

The Inspector-General (IG) of Police Hillary Mutyambai announced the disruption of traffic in Nairobi's CBD and Nairobi-Eldoret Highway on Saturday.

IG Mutyambai said the disruption is to allow free flow of traffic leading to Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi where the memorial service will be held on Tuesday.

Further, since the late president Moi will be buried at his Kabarak home on Wednesday, February 12, the Nairobi-Eldoret Highway has been cleared of heavy commercial trucks.

In Nairobi, Valley Road, Aerodrome Road, Uhuru Highway, Likoni and Bunyala roads and University Way roundabout will be closed from 6 am.

Mr. Mutyambai said that all heavy commercial trucks and trailers will not be allowed on the Eldoret-Nairobi Highway from Tuesday noon until Wednesday at 7 pm.

“There will be enhanced police deployment to ensure public safety and security, and for traffic control and enforcement along the routes,” Mr. Mutyambai said.
