Sunday blackout to affect Nairobi, 4 other counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled blackout for Sunday, May 26, 2024.

In a statement, the utility company which cited network maintenance as the reason for the scheduled blackout, noted that the interruption will affect 5 counties.

Counties that will be affected include; Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Mombasa and Kilifi.

"Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (26th May 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance," the statement reads in parts.

According to Kenya Power, the blackout in Nairobi will affect part of Westlands from 9 am to 5 pm.

Some of the areas that will be affected include; School Lane, parts of Karuna Road, Westlands Primary School, BOA, Safaricom Headquarters, parts of Waiyaki Way, Fenesi Gardens, Kryston Apartments, ACK St Marks Church, School Groove, Njugunas, Total Station, Kabete Baracks, KARLO Kabete, parts of Manyani Road, ABC Place, APDK, Deroid Kenya and adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu the blackout will affect Sinendet Centre from 10 am to 5 pm.

Some of the areas that will be affected include; Saka Quarry, Lower Kipkaren Centre, Upper Kipkaren, Nyengeilel Secondary School, Nyengeilel Centre, Musembe Market, Chepsaita, Magut Centre, Lumakanda Secondary School, Lumakanada Hospital, Ngayu Centre Psorungai, Murugusi Dispensary and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Kisii will affect parts of Kisii Town including areas such as Embonga Hotel, Kisii East Garage, CITAM Church, Senti, Botori SAD, Marshpark Hotel, Bosongo Hospital, Le Premier Hotel, Kisii Junction Hotel, Mwenzangu Building, Superloaf, Ouru Superstores, New Naivas, Dans Hotel, KPLC Office, Kisii, Mediforte, Dallas Complex, Oasis, Industrial and adjacent customers.

The mentioned areas will be affected from 7.20 am to 4.20 pm.

In Mombasa County, the scheduled blackout will affect Ganjoni and Kizingo areas from 8 am to 5 pm.

Some of the areas that will be affected include; Jawabe Hotel. Mombasa Sports, Nairobi Women's Hospital, part of Moi Avenue, Mama Ngina Water Front, Ndoho Market, Mbaraki Sports Club, Sea View Plaza, Oceanic View Apartments, Ligh House, National Police Headquarters, Fort Jesus, KPA, Low Level Houses, KMA, Lotus Hotel, County offices, Mbaraki Sports Club, Bamburi Cement, Likoni Mall, SECO, Likoni Naivas and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Kilifi scheduled to start at 8 am and end at 5 pm will affect parts of Kanumai Majengo, Tropical Sea life, Dada Millers, Bestline EPZ, Mwatundo, Rise and Shine, Kwa Radar, Kwa Madzayo, Africa Fuels, Coast Apparel, Jodari Millers, Nyati, Mtwapa Market, Petrocity, Handshake Hotel, Oasinas Hospital, Ndonya, Mzambarauni, Mzuri Sweets, Four Fram, Amor Coco, Mtepeni Primary, Imani Pipes, Kwa Kamau, Bamba Water, Kwa Sadaka, Migingo, Fantasy Farm, Sina Changu, Coca Cola Bottlers, Handshake Hotel, I, Greenwod Resort, KMA Estate, Kwa Chokwe, KALRO staff quarters, Tunzanani, Chenoni, and adjacent customers.
