7 die in grisly road accident along Narok-Bomet highway

Seven people died on Friday in a road accident that occurred along the Narok-Bomet highway, about 8kms West of Narok town.

The mid-day accident involving a Mercedes Actros trailer collided head-on with a Toyota Hiace belonging to Ena coach company killing 5 people on the spot. Two died later at the Narok Referal Hospital.

Police report indicated that the accident happened after the driver of the trailer driving from Narok towards Bomet had a front right tyre burst, lost control and hit the Matatu which was going the opposite direction.

Narok North sub-county police boss Fredrick Shoundu confirmed the accident saying; "As a result of the accident, the matatu was extremely damaged, Seven people died while five were seriously injured."

He said the scene was visited and bodies moved to Narok county referral hospital mortuary and victims were rushed to Narok referral hospital where they are receiving treatment with both vehicles towed to Narok police station yard.
