Detectives within Kamulu, Kasarani sub-county have nabbed three suspects trafficking narcotics.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), detectives who were acting on intelligence laid a roadblock for the suspects along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

Upon learning of what awaited them, the three evaded the roadblock and rerouted for their hideout in Kamulu.

"Three suspects of trafficking in narcotics were at daybreak today arrested at a homestead within Kamulu in Kasarani sub-county, moments after evading a roadblock mounted by the Operations Support Unit of the DCI at Limuru along the Nakuru - Nairobi highway," DCI said.

"Acting on intelligence that a personal vehicle was transporting the prohibited herb from the Busia border for distribution in Nairobi, detectives laid a roadblock at the cold foggy section only for the traffickers to reroute and make it to their hideout."

The suspects engaged detectives in a 10-hour chase as they continuously dodged police roadblocks and employed dangerous manoeuvres.

However, they were arrested shortly after they arrived at Kamulu homestead.

"Not so smart though, the KDN 590D Mazda CX-3 used in the illegal venture drove into the said Kamulu homestead, oblivious that a police car was right at its tail. The suspects' 10-hour trip dodging police roadblocks and employing dangerous manoeuvres was blessed with cold cuffs on their wrists, as they were ushered to fit in the only remaining space at the police vehicle," DCI added.

Upon searching the vehicle, detectives who believe that more bales may have been dropped along the way, found a bale of bhang.

The suspects were taken into custody pending arraignment in court.

Following the incident, detectives warned citizens who venture into illegal quick money schemes stating that the law will always catch up to them.

"The DCI reminds those driven by the sheer greed to get-rich-quick through illegitimate means that the nationwide crackdown on drug traffickers, illegal brewers and contrabands continues, and that no matter how fast they ride, justice will soon catch up with them,' the investigative agency added.
