A man who was found guilty of stealing Sh380, 000 from Co-operative Bank has been sentenced.

Hillary Muhanzi alias Mustafa Abass was convicted by Milimani chief magistrate Wendy Micheni after he pleaded guilty to four counts of stealing, and impersonation.

While sentencing him, the magistrate considered his mitigation of being a first offender.

“I convict the accused person and sentence him to three years in jail on each count of the offences he committed," the magistrate ruled.

She, however, added that the sentences should run concurrently.

In the first count of the charge sheet, Muhanzi was accused of stealing Sh150, 000 from Co-operative bank Kibera Branch on November 16, 2021 with others not before court.

He faced a second count of stealing Sh230, 000 on November 18, 2021, at the same place.

The court heard, Muhanzi also attempted to steal Sh140, 000 from the bank on November 22, 2021.
