Two brothers from Narok South Sub County, Narok County have committed suicide after their father accepted back his divorced wife.

According to a police report, Vincent Kipkorir Koech (19) and Gilbert Kibet Koech (17), committed suicide on the same tree along Amalo River.

"Today at 1430 hrs it was reported at Kapsilibwa Village Choronk area in Sagamian Location that two sons of Mzee David Towett namely Vincent Kipkorir Koech aged 19 years and Gilbert Kibet Koech aged 17 years had committed suicide by hanging themselves on a tree along Amalo River," the report read in part.

The police indicate that the two, who have previous criminal records, had threatened to kill their stepmother, step-siblings and their father before finally agreeing to commit suicide.

They are reported to have stolen in two churches in the locality among other criminal activities.

"The reason for agreeing to commit suicide was that their father had two wives and that the elder one namely Alice Chebet who had been divorced many years ago returned home and the father decided to give her a piece of land. This intended action was disputed by the two deceased brothers who even threatened to kill the whole stepfamily and their father," the report added.

"The two had previous criminal records where they even stole in two churches in the area among other things."

Crime Scene specialists from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and police officers visited and processed the scene.

Their bodies were moved to Longisa County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Homa Bay suicide

This comes two days after a form four student at Orero Boys High School, Rangwe Sub County in Homa Bay County committed suicide by hanging himself inside a toilet.

According to Homa Bay County Police Commandant Samson Olekine, the body of the deceased student was discovered hanging from the toilet’s rooftop on Tuesday morning by one of his fellow students.

It is reported that the student had excused himself to use the restroom at around 5 am during the early hours of dawn. However, he failed to return to class, raising concerns among his peers. Sadly, his lifeless body was found later that morning.

It's been revealed that the student's father had visited the school the previous day, Monday, to discuss his son's recent academic performance with the teachers.

This meeting is suspected to have been distressing for the student, particularly in light of the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.
