Twelve nursery school pupils at Moi’s Bridge Baptist Bibal Mission School in Uasin Gishu County were on Thursday afternoon taken to hospital after a cemented underground human waste pit caved in.

The learners were playing on the cemented top of the sewage system, when it tumbled down at 1:40pm.

Good Samaritans rescued the pupils and took them to Moi’s Bridge Health Centre, where they were all treated and discharged later Thursday.

Moi’s Bridge Location Senior Chief, Wilson Sirma, told K24 Digital that the victims were aged between 4 and 8 years.

It is said the pupils were on lunch-break, and the teachers were in the staffroom when the incident happened.

Local education leadership told K24 Digital that the school will be closed indefinitely.

We have learnt that the owner of the school and a teacher were taken in for questioning.

More soon.
