Singer Wahu Kagwi has gone back to working out at the gym for the first time since she got pregnant and gave birth.

The mother of three, who has been a victim of body-shaming, expressed her excitement as she returned to the gym to shed baby fat.

"It's been 2 years since I was inside a gym...this was my day 2 (jana) with @eveal_health_and_fitness. I woke up today feeling so sore 😭 but that's what happens at the beginning...Woi let's see how this goes" Wahu wrote in a post on social media.

The trolling

Wahu gained a lot of weight when she got pregnant with her third child.

Nameless and his wife welcomed their daughter Shiru on October 11, 2022.

Wahu gained a staggering 22.5 kgs during her pregnancy and was brutally trolled for the weight gain, forcing her eldest daughter Tumiso to come out to her defence in February 2023.

Wahu’s daughter wondered why some people, especially ladies, were body-shaming her mother yet weight gain during pregnancy is a natural occurrence.

I just wanted to address the people body shaming @wahukagwi on her recent post. I find it really sad that it is women who are talking about her body. Honestly (I) expected better from us and she literally just had a baby. You guys need to grow up for real,” Tumiso said in her Insta-stories.

The body-shaming came after Wahu shared a photo of her giving views during a meeting held by the now-disbanded Talanta Hela Creative Technical Committee by the Ministry of Sports.

"Sure I have added a lot of weight…22.5kgs to be exact 😄 actually, for those who know me, I always add weight when pg. with Tumiso I added 27kgs 😄😅 but I wanted to draw your attention to..in the 1st couple of minutes of the post.. there were quite a number of distasteful comments. unfortunately, many of these were by women. these were overtaken by overwhelming number of +ve comments, again, majority being by women. a classic case of good outweighs the bad…so much so that majority of the "shamers" ended up pulling down their commentsClearly, more and more of us are leaning towards positive vibes on social media, and I thank you for this🤗," Wahu's statement on Facebook read in part.

"Secondly, to anyone whose ever been body shamed, remember, what the shamers say is not a reflection of you … it's really a reflection of the quality of person they are. wewe uko tu sawa…so don't take it their negativity to heart 😏 just for the record, I'm not posting this because I'm upset..ziii….unajua, ukijijua, not many external things can get to you…I'm sharing this for us to take note that there is hope for a more positive living environment and also to encourage anyone who's been a victim of any kind of hate
otherwise laleni fiti 🤗🤗
," the statement added.
