Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect believed to be behind the murder of a bar attendant, whose body was found dumped at a banana plantation in Kiambu town early this week.

The body of Rosemary Ruguru, 52, was found near Kiambu Prison, not far from her place of work.

According to an eyewitness William Wahome, who lives a few meters from the scene, said the body of the deceased was half naked.

"I was shocked beyond words to see the body of my longtime friend lying uncovered. Her legs and hands were spread which is an indication that there was a tussle between her and her assassins," Willliam Wahome said.

It's believed that the deceased was killed elsewhere and her body dumped in the area.

Wahome called upon the police to conduct patrols in the area noting that this was not the first incident to be reported in the area. According to him, there was a similar case last month where the body of a young woman was also found murdered in a similar manner.

Manager speaks

Riverside Hotel Manager Samuel Kahata confirmed Rosemary left her workplace around 10 pm on Monday only to later learn about her gruesome murder the following day.

"She worked the whole day until 10 pm when she retired to rest in readiness for the next day. We were dismayed and bitter to hear that her lifeless body had been seen dumped in our neighbourhood," he said.

While Confirming the Incident Kiambu Sub County Police Commander Mohamud Badel, said they were piecing together evidence, exuding confidence that the suspect will be arrested soon.

He, however, regretted the incident noting it was disheartening to see inhumane criminals taking the life of an innocent woman.

"We will leave no stone unturned. We have leading information and I want to assure you that we shall soon apprehend the culprits," the police boss added.

The deceased is said to have left her place of work and went to her house, which is a walking distance away.

She reportedly freshened up before joining her lover in Kiambu town where they partied until late at night.

However, Ruguru's friends say the woman looked restless and tensed during the entire time.
