Nyota Ndogo's Danish husband Henning Nielsen has forbidden her from speaking to the press about her pregnancy.
The 42-year-old songbird on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, posted on social media a photo of herself cradling her baby bump, albeit without directly announcing that she was pregnant.
Nyota Ndogo later confirmed that she was indeed pregnant but cautioned that her 60-year-old husband had barred her from talking about her pregnancy to the media.
The singer said her hubby has only allowed her to talk about her music career to the press.
“Samahanini sana nimekua kimya.nikekua bizi kazini kuleee kwa machapati maharage pilau.mpishi wangu ameenda mapumziko so saaa kumi na moja alfajiri bafaa kufika kazini.ahsanteni kwa hongera zenu.lakini media mtanisamehe mume wangu amesema hataki kuniona kwenye kituo chochote cha chochote cha radio TV ama police nikiongelea hali yangu.so endapp nitatoa nyimbo interview iwe ya mimi na mziki wangu na sio ujauzito wangu.ama nisitoe mpaka nijifungue,” Nyota Ndogo wrote.
Age shamers
In another post, Nyota Ndogo hit back at critics castigating her for getting pregnant 'in old age'.
The 42-year-old mother of two noted that she is still a 'baby' and well-equipped to conceive.
"Wenye kusema mimi nimzee sifai kuzaa siku yakujifungua njooni musukume nyinyi maana nyie ndio mna nguvu zakusukuma. Kwanza mimi am only 42 bado mchanga sana. Happy birthday to me, oh sorry congratulations to me," she wrote.
18-year age gap
Nyota Ndogo is married to a Danish man Henning Nielsen who is way older than her.
The singer, who was born on January 3, 1981, came under a scathing attack for marrying the Danish who is 18 years older than her.
The two lovebirds got married in a colourful wedding held in May 2016 after years of dating.
Nyota Ndogo has never been apprehensive talking about her husband's age publicly.
The 42-year-old Coast-based singer poured out her heart to her Danish husband as he celebrated his 60th birthday on January 26, 2023.
“Happy 60th birthday my husband. Hata ufike miaka mia wewe ni wangu mpaka mwisho. Barafu wa moyo wangu nakupenda ama nitasema vipi kwa Kiswahili.The ice cube of my heart. Enjoy your day,” Nyota Ndogo wrote.
Brief separation
Nyota Ndogo's pregnancy comes as a shock to many given that her husband dumped her for months after she pranked him for being pregnant.
April Fool’s Day prank in 2021 briefly made the Danish separate from his Kenyan wife.
The Coast-based singer explained that her husband was angry over the pregnancy prank she played on him on April Fool’s Day.
The mother of two said that Nielsen was agitated by her pregnancy prank because they had agreed not to have any child.
According to Nyota, the Danish did not want to have children since he felt that her two children and his own three children were enough.
“We talked about having children, he said we have five of them, we don’t need another one. By five children, he meant my daughter and son, and his own three children. He then argued that he is an adult, with grandchildren. He said, ‘I want when I retire and come to Kenya, we travel all over the world, and not baby sitting’,” Nyota Ndogo said.
For months, Nyota Ndogo publicly and privately begged her husband to forgive her in vain.
Nyota and her mzungu husband however got back together in September 2021.
It's not clear what made the Danish change his mind to have a baby with his wife - seven years after their wedding.
