Milele FM radio presenter Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has denied that he exchanged wedding vows with his partner Amina Chao on Saturday, October 26.

Jalang’o said the event dubbed his traditional wedding by entertainment blogs was an informal meet-and-greet ceremony he organised with Amina’s family.

The ceremony took place in Syokimau, Machakos County.

“A lot of people usually ask me: ‘Are you married or not?’ Jalang’o said on Monday during the Milele FM breakfast show that he hosts alongside Alex Mwakideu.

“The pictures you saw from the event I attended in Syokimau were not taken at a wedding function. I had gone to meet my mother-in-law, and say hi to my partner’s relatives.

“I told myself: ‘I should be attending the function accompanied by my close friends’. I brought together a few of my friends, who pooled their vehicles, and drove with me to my in-laws’ home,” said Jalang’o.

Very little information is known about Amina. Jalang’o describes her as a “gentle and composed woman”.

“My partner is a gentle person, who is not easily impressed by the allure of modernity such as social media. She is composed. Many were wondering: ‘Who is she? How long has she and Jalang’o been together?’

“I would like to say we have been a couple for long now, and I was shocked when people wondered where she came from,” said Jalang’o.

“Due to lack of readily available information about my partner, blogs were left guessing and writing false information about her,” said the radio host.

Alex Mwakideu, who was part of the team that accompanied Jalang’o to Amina’s relatives’ home, described the ceremony as “beautiful”.

“We were really impressed by the ceremony – from the meals, the people, to the environment,” said Mwakideu.

Other notable people who attended the ceremony are: MC Jessy, Robert Burale, Jasper Muthomi, Tom Japanni, Big Ted, Chris Kirwa, among others.

Jalang’o says they are yet to settle on an official wedding date, but once they do, he and Amina will inform Kenyans.

“When my partner and I settle on a wedding date, we will let our fans know, or maybe not,” he said

Amina Chao, a native of Taita Taveta County, works in the general trade visibility and events department of Safaricom PLC.
