Congolese musicians have come out to mourn the death of legendary singer Élizabeth Tshala Muana Muidikay alias Tshala Muana.

Messages of condolence have been pouring in ever since Tshala Muana's death was announced today Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Legendary Congolese singer Koffi Olomide eulogized the deceased as a true friend and referred to her as the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time).

"My cuckoo is gone... true love lasts for life. Rest in peace Elizabeth Tshala de Koffi....My sincere condolences to his biological family and all Congolese people.... The g.o.a.t," Koffi Olomide wrote on Facebook.

Rhumba maestro Fally Ipupa said Tshala Muana was the queen of local music in DRC in his message of condolence.

"Rest in peace the Queen of Mutwashi, National Mamu, Mama Tshala Muana," Fally Ipupa wrote.

Tshala Muana's death

Tshala Muana died on Saturday morning, December 10, 2022, in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) according to her spouse and music producer Claude Mashala.

“This morning, God took the life of Tshala Muana. May her soul rest in peace,” Mashala wrote on his official Facebook page.

Muana is said to have succumbed to respiratory complications after being hospitalised for a week.

“She passed on at 2 am today (Saturday, December 10)," he added.

In a report by DR-Congo’s largest news site 7sur7, the musician’s body was taken to the Cinquantenaire Hospital morgue in Kinshasa.

The outlet further said that Muana’s relative, Jean-Marie Kassamba, confirmed to 7sur7 news of her death.

The deceased was known for her hit 'Karibu Yangu' among several other hit songs.
