Eric Omondi ultimately declared interest in the Lang'ata parliamentary seat and he is not hiding the fact that he is being supported by political supremo Raila Odinga.
The comedian-turned-activist publicly revealed he is salivating for the Lang'ata seat just days after area Member of Parliament (MP) Jalang'o was expelled by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Speaking to Milele FM, Eric said he was compelled to consider vying for the Lang'ata seat because of the outpouring of rallying calls from the electorate.

"Lakini umeifikiria (Have youth thought about vying?)" Ankali Ray asked Eric.
The comedian explained that he has to vie for Lang'ata parliament seat to honour the voices of the people and also to bring the changes he has been fighting for on the streets to the floor of the House.
"Itabidi maanake kuna ile saying wanasema sauti ya wanainchi ni sauti ya Mungu. The people's voice is the voice of God, kuna hio nilikua naambiwanga na pastor wangu kitambo nikiwa kanisani pale Kisumu.
"So lazima tuanze kufikiria maanake pia unajua kuna vitu mingi. Tunapigwa tear gas, tunaandamana, tunashikwa tunafungwa lakini ikifika wakati wa decision making pale wale wanasiasa wakumbavu sana wanapitisha Finance Bill wanaumiza Wakenya. Sasa Erico ohh ameshikwa, Erico ako maandamano, Eric ako Central lakini muda wa kumake decision pale Erico hayuko. Hayuko kule ndani sasa ni kelele tu anapiga kule nje. Ushaelewa ni kwa nini nimeshaanza kuifikiria? That's the reason nimeanza kuifikiria," Eric Omondi said.
Odingas' support
Eric Omondi was also asked about his dalliance with the Odingas and if he was being groomed by the influential family to take a stab at politics.
The comedian said that Ida Odinga summoned and gave him a crash course on his appearance, revealing that Raila's wife warned him against wearing earrings.
Eric also disclosed that Raila gave him wise counsel from his wealth of experience in politics.
"Mama aliniita tu akanipikia akaniongelesha kama kijana mdogo zile makosa madoa doa akaniambia kijana toa hii, usivae earings. Mama anakusaidia anakuosha kidogo alafu Baba ndo akanipatia wisdom ya miaka pale," Eric Omondi said.

On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Eric Omondi accompanied Ida Odinga to Siaya where they donated sanitary towels at Nyamonye Girls School.
"I accompanied Mama Dr Ida Odinga to St. Augustine Nyamonye Girls to Donate, Sanitary towels, books and Soap. Mama also gave me the Opportunity to adopt one girl Shanice. I will pay Shanice's school fees from form one until form four. I am officially a Parent at Nyamonye Girls," Eric Omondi wrote.
