Comedian Eric Omondi has revealed why he quit taking alcohol.

In a recent interview with a local news outlet, the internet sensation said he had not touched alcohol in seven years now.

Eric Omondi gave a few reasons that led to this decision, one of them being it affected his image.

According to Eric Omondi, taking alcohol had left him looking older and skinnier.

He went on to add that his drinking habit reached a point it started affecting his memory, hence forgetting his content while performing.

“I don’t drink alcohol now for like seven years. I used to drink a lot, but I became so thin that I could not perform, and I also noticed that I would forget some jokes. I looked very old, so I decided to just quit it,” Eric Omondi opened up.

Eric On smoking

Another substance Eric Omondi addressed is cigarette smoking.

Although he does not smoke, the comedian expressed his love for the tobacco smell.

He, however, went on to reveal the reason he has never tried it is because he fears getting addicted to it, now that he finds the tobacco smell pleasant.

"I have also never smoked anything in my life but I love the tobacco smell. I am afraid I can easily become an addict if I ever try smoking," Eric Omondi said.

According to Eric Omondi, staying sober helps a person focus on what is important.

He gave an example of a drunk man taking long to get home as an example of the disadvantages that come with drinking habits.

"Just like a drunk man take a lot of time to get home, being sober helps you achieve your goal faster," he added.

In September 2017, Eric Omondi was forced to address a viral video of his drunk self getting more intoxicated at an event at the Ngong racecourse in Nairobi.

In the video shared by Joe Muchiri, a drowsy Eric Omondi was seen trying to drink a bottle of whiskey but gagged immediately.
