Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has offered nuggets of wisdom to married couples.

Speaking during a podcast session with Cultured Times on TikTok, the MP urged couples to value the importance of partners who go out of their way to endure hardships with them noting that those are the right people to be surrounded by.

While jesting that men's value comes from the depth of their pockets, the MP stressed that married couples should learn to recognise and appreciate their partners whenever they do right by them without overlooking or comparing other aspects.

"Good women come from God… a beautiful woman comes from God, a handsome man comes from the bank but all in all the moment we will appreciate the importance of a partner is when there are challenges and the challenges that you go through if your partner is by your side always and supporting you and being strong by your side and praying for you, then that is the right person in your life," he stated.

Asked about the qualities to look for when marrying someone, the lawmaker enlisted that individuals should consider qualities such as compatibility, good communication skills and the ability to rise above petty issues among others.

Babu also encouraged married couples to unite and work together with the inclusion of their deity and exclusion of other individuals.

"Kama huezi mvalue, ama kumtrust why did you marry that person? The most important thing is how do you relate with your partner? Are you compatible? Do you communicate, date or rise above petty issues? Remember marriage is a union between two persons to the exclusion of all others, you only invite God in it," he added.

He further encouraged men to set a pace in their relationships, which he says creates the mood and determines the fate of the relationship's progress into a union.

He, at the same time, encouraged men to value women who bear children for them as the decision implies that the woman is interested in the relationship.

"Somebody amekubali amekupatia watoto, huyo ni somebody who wants to spend time with you and spend their life with you. So hii maneno ya kuleta story nyingi ni story ya jaba. The moment you have a proper wife, you set a pace," he added.
