Equity Bank Managing Director, Polycarp Igathe, has been appointed as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Vivo Energy.

Igathe’s appointment at Vivo takes effect on September 1, 2019.

Igathe, 46, was appointed as Equity Bank Chief Commercial Officer in May, 2018, exactly four months after he resigned as Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s deputy. In his resignation letter dated January 12, 2018, Igathe said he was being frustrated by Sonko.

The ex-DG was, later in September 2018, promoted to the position of Equity Bank Group Managing Director.

Prior to plunging into politics in 2017, Igathe was the managing director at Vivo Energy, Kenya.

Vivo Energy is the company behind the Shell brand in Africa and is jointly owned by Vitol.
