A police vehicle has lost control at the notorious Matakari area along Embu Kiritiri road and landed in a ditch.

According to an eyewitness, the vehicle developed a mechanical problem before losing control.

There were no injuries reported.

The area has experienced a series of accidents over years with locals blaming it on the lack of speed bumps on the busy road.

Last week, four people were reported dead on the spot after two motorcycles collided head-on with a courier van.

The incident angered locals who erected muddy bumps in the area which the motorists now claim are not safe for the road users.

Kirimari ward member of county assembly (MCA) Morris Nyaga confirmed that in the last year over 100 people have died in the area due to lack of bumps.

He further urged the Kenya National Highway Authority to move with speed and address their cry by erecting a long-lasting standard bump on that particular area.
