Police in Vihiga are investigating a suspected arson case after a fire burnt down a dormitory in Vihiga Boys Secondary School in the morning of Friday, October 15.
The students watched in horror as the inferno ate up their belongings after attempts to salvage mattresses and uniforms proved futile.
Confirming the incident, Vihiga County Police Commander Benjamin Ong’ombe said the fire disrupted learning and normal operation in the school.

Firefighters from the county government responded to calls by the administration and managed to put out the inferno, although property of unknown value had already been destroyed.
Sources familiar with the Friday morning inferno state that a similar attempt to burn down the dormitory was thwarted on Thursday night.
