City lawyer Cliff Ombeta has officially joined United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party that is associated with Deputy President Wiliam Ruto.

In a poster he shared on his social media handle, the Lawyer confirmed he is now a member of the party and went on to urge willing members to sign up.

"I am a member of a registered member of United Democratic Alliance," read a poster he shared on Twitter.

The declaration comes at the backdrop of his recent close association with allies of DP Ruto from the Kisii region.

Lawyer Ombeta has been seen accompanying renowned Kisii leaders and businessmen, who have endorsed the DP for presidency come 2022, at political campaigns in the forthcoming Bonchari parliamentary by-election.

Together with South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, businessman Jhanda Zaheer and Don Bosco Gichana, the lawyer has been leading campaigns for UDA candidate Teresa Bitutu Oyioka in Bonchari.

Mrs Oyioka is the widow of former MP John Oyioka who died in February.

In March, reports emerged that Ombeta will contest for the Bonchari Parliamentary seat after he was pictured with DP Ruto at his Weston Hotel. MP Osoro was also present.

He, however, dismissed the allegations and hinted at running for a political seat come 2022.

Lawyer Ombeta joins a long list of prominent Kisii personalities who have declared their support for the DP among them former MP Omingo Magara, EALA MP Charles Nyachae, Bomachoge Chache MP Alfah Miruka among many others.
