Two minors kill themselves in separate incidents in Kisii, Nyamira counties

Two minors in two separate incidents on Wednesday night committed suicide in Kisii and Nyamira counties.

In the first incident, a minor at a local primary school in Kitutu North, Kisii County committed suicide moments after he arrived home from school.

Evans Obegi ,the area chief, told Mediamax Digital that the child aged, 12, was found with a rope tied on his neck.

This is after he informed his mother that they had been asked by their teachers to hand over their birth certificates.

“He walked into the house and remained silent until his aunt found him dead,” he said.

Meanwhile, police in Nyamira county are investigating an incident where Class Six pupil committed suicide by hanging himself on an avocado three.

In a police report seen by Mediamax Digital, Paul Ombaye,who is the Nyamakoroto village elder, the 14-year-old used a sisal rope to end his life within their homestead.

“The body was well dressed and had no visible physical injuries. No suicide note was found and the motive is yet to be established,” the report read in part.

The body of the minor was taken to Gucha Private Hospital morgue.
