A man who has been masquerading as a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detective was on Monday arraigned and charged with defrauding a government official of Sh2.9 million.

Alexandria Kibet alias DT. Donald, who hails from Ossen in Baringo County and said to be eyeing the Kabartonjo ward representative seat, is accused of recently defrauding Zakayo Chirchir of the cash.

Appearing before Senior Principal Paul Biwott, the suspect denied the fraud charges.

Kibet was nabbed by detectives on Sunday afternoon, January 10, as he was going to collect an additional Sh300,000 from his victim.

The court allowed detectives to detain the suspect for seven more days in order to complete investigations.
