Popular Kikuyu singer Edward Irungu might not be buried anytime soon if what his father is saying is anything to go by.

Njaro Wairatu who is the father of the singer on Friday told the media that burying his son would be like cover up to the fact that he was murdered and that he never committed suicide.

According to him, his son was murdered and police were very reluctant since they abandoned making a follow up on the matter just days after his body was retrieved from Masinga river.

“Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have never even asked any member of the family to record a statement on the matter. Is that how things are done?” posed Wairatu.

He further claimed that officers were not ready to assist him because he was living in abject poverty.

Wairatu now believes that his son was murdered and that those who committed the heinous act should just go ahead and lay him to rest.

According to him, if he went ahead and buried his son it might be against the wish of the deceased since as a family they would have covered facts that led to his death.

He claimed that his son had contacted him claiming that he had been abducted before his phone went off. He had also hinted that a gang was after him and was demanding cash.

However, according to a police statement released after his death, the musician sent messages to friends that he was planning to commit suicide.

It has also emerged that he owed a certain group a total of ksh750,000.
