Uhuru sacks Kenya Prisons boss after escape of three terror convicts from Kamiti prisons

President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Wednesday November 17, 2021 revoked that appointment of Wycliffe Ogalo as the Commissioner-General of the Kenya Prisons Services.

The Head of State has to that effect appointed Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba as the new Commissioner-General.

"The appointment follows the briefing to the Head of State from the Ministry responsible for Correctional Services regarding the security breaches at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison that led to the escape of three inmates," a press release by StateHouse read in part.

The Head of State has also directed Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and all security formations to take all action necessary and pursue the Kamiti escapees with all the resources at their disposal.

The President also directed the State Department of Correctional Services to sanction disciplinary action against all Kenya Prisons Services personel who were on duty when the convicts escaped.

The Head of State has appealed to Kenyans to volunteer information that will lead to the tracing and arrest of the trio.

President Uhuru has also urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
