Two night guards aged 26 and 30 years were Wednesday, September 7 murdered with two others seriously injured by unknown assailants at an entertainment joint in Athi-river, Machakos County.
In the early morning incident, an unknown number of assailants gained entry into the entertainment joint through the wall before killing two among the four guards manning the premise which was by then closed.
The assailants also managed to get away with electronics and beer bottles whose value is yet to be established.
Guards murdered using crude weapons
Detectives said preliminary investigations indicate the two were murdered using crude weapons in an incident discovered by workers reporting to work at 8 am.
The matter was reported at Athi-river Police Station.
According to Athi-river South Sub-county police commander Mary Njoki, investigations into the incident have commenced in earnest.
"It is unfortunate that two people succumbed to injuries following a brutal attack by criminals. We are working hand in hand with other security agencies to unravel the incident and bring the criminals to book. We have recorded statements and we will not leave any stone unturned on this criminal matter, " Njoki warned.
The police commander said the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Athiriver Forensic and Cybercrime experts are further following crucial leads that will lead to the arrest of the criminals.
The two, who were critically injured, are recuperating at a hospital in Nairobi.
The bodies of the two, who have positively been identified by family members, were taken to the nearby Shallom Community Mortuary.
