Hamisi Iddi, the MCA for Chewani Ward in Tana River County, is dead.
Iddi, who served as the minority leader in the County Assembly of Tana-River, died in an accident on Malindi-Garsen road on Saturday morning.
Iddi was a first-term ward representative elected under a UDA party ticket in last year's general election.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, in a statement, said Tana River residents have lost a "focused and dedicated leader who put the interests of his people first".
"UDA Party mourns the passing on of Hon.Hamisi Iddi Deye, aka Ndoyeni of Chewani Ward- Tana-River County, which occurred this morning through a tragic road accident on Malindi-Garsen road.
"...During this moment of grief, we pray for the soul of the departed, his family, and the people of Chewani ward. May his soul rest in eternal peace," the statement read in part.

Iddi previously served as a bodyguard for the governor of Tana River.
