The hearing of the Presidential Election Petition kicked off on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, with Azimio leader Raila Odinga's lawyers seeking invalidation of the August 9 presidential election results on the basis that the electoral body mismanaged it.

The Azimio coalition through over 40 lawyers presented their case arguing for nullification of President-elect William Ruto's win.

Azimio’s coalition lead counsel James Orengo started off his prosecution of the case on Wednesday morning, in which Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua seeks to convince the Apex Court the election of Ruto was invalid owing to compromise of the electoral results transmission system.

Raila and Karua have a total of six hours to present their case for the three-day hearing period upon which the respondents - Ruto, his running mate Rigathi Gachagua and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will each have three hours to rebuttal.

Today all the seven petitioners are expected to argue their case.

The proceedings are expected to conclude at the end of the week upon which the court will issue its verdict a week later.
