Isaiah Wanjala, the bright student who wanted to sell one of his kidneys to finance his high school education scored a mean grade of B plain in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(KCSE) results.

Wanjala's resolve which was highlighted by K24 Digital, left villagers and his parents in a state of shock and disbelief. The 14-year-old then, from Gidea village in Kwanza Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, had been selected to join Chewoiyet Boys High School in West Pokot County after scoring 394 marks in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education(KCPE).

However, since his parents could not raise the Ksh50,000 required to join the national school, Wanyonyi opted to sell one of his kidneys to enable him to join his dream school.

After his story was highlighted, several well-wishers including former Trans Nzoia County Woman Representative Janet Nangabo and Kitale-based gynaecologist Geoffrey Kasembeli among others sponsored his education.

In an exclusive interview with K24 Digital after receiving his results, Wanjala said although he wanted to pursue Aerospace Engineering, he would consider a medical engineering course because he did not achieve his target grade of A plain.

"For sure, the four-year experience was not easy. Out of hard work,  determination and prayers, I managed to score a B plain. I want to go to a good university to pursue medical engineering," Wanjala said.

He appreciated his sponsors for making his high school education a success.

"I am sure that were it not for their big hearts, I could not have reached where I am now. I ask God to bless them," he stated.

His parents, Rose Andisi and Fred Wanyonyi, could not hide their joy since.

"As a family, we are very happy that our fifth-born child has not ashamed us and his sponsors," they said.
