A traffic officer was on Friday, December 3, knocked down to death by a speeding Public Service Vehicle (PSV) at the Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) along Valley Road in Nairobi County.

Speaking to K24 Digital traffic boss Joshua Omukata said that the officer identified as Moustapha Lolo, a sergeant by rank was hit by the matatu as he was controlling traffic.

“The officer was busy controlling traffic when the accident took place. His lifeless body has already been taken to the morgue,” Lolo said.

Witnesses say that the officer attached to Kilimani Police Station was hit by a speeding matatu that had lost control.

"The driver of the speeding matatu lost control and hit the officer,” James Ng’ang’a, a witness said.

Another witness, Humphrey Ochieng said that the speeding matatu hit the officer while he was controlling traffic during the evening rush hour.

Following the incident, friends and colleagues of the officer have taken to social media to mourn his death.

Geoffrey Mosoku who described the deceased as a great friend, said that he was shocked by the demise of the officer noting that he was about to call him a few minutes before he heard about the accident.

"Immediately someone inquired from me about the huge traffic along Valley Road, my first instinct was to call him for an explanation little did I know he was gone... I can't believe that you are gone man," Mosoku said.
