Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is reportedly receiving medical attention at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The City Hall boss, who was transferred from Industrial Area Remand to Kamiti Maximum Prison on Monday night, is said to have fallen ill.

Earlier on Monday, his team of lawyers led by Cecil Miller, told Nairobi Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti that Mr Sonko needed urgent medical attention and possible hospitalisation from possible rib fractures.

Mr Sonko claimed that he was roughed up by the scores of police officers who arrested him on Friday, December 6 at Voi.

On Monday, Mr Sonko was charged with corruption and abuse of office alongside 16 other over irregular Sh357 million tendering.

The ruling for Mr Sonko's bail application will be made on Wednesday, December 13, 2019.
