Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
The utility firm in the notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network.
"Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.)," Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Saturday power interruption will affect Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Lamu and Tana River Counties.
Nairobi
Parts of Nairobi County will be affected by an eight-hour blackout, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The areas affected include; Ruai Shopping Center, Ruai Police, Ruai DC, Githunguri, Block 10, Makorgeni, Stage 26, Twin Bird, Kipawa, Made in the Streets, Kingoris, Kamulu, Reflector, Brook Shine, Ngondu, Athi Primary & adjacent customers.
Trans Nzoia
Parts of Trans Nzoia County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Kipsingori, Fri Bch, Kaplamai, Kapchepsir, Botwa, Karara & adjacent customers.
Bungoma
Parts of Bungoma County will not have an electricity supply from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Site and Service Est, Webuye Town, Webuye Law Courts, Webuye Sub County Hasp, Nabuyole Boosters, Webuye Police, National Est, Pan Paper Guest Hss, Dinah Area, Satellite Hotel, Apollo Hotel, Swan Hotel, New Rays Hotel, Nabuyole Falls Lodge Hotel, Webuye Weighbridge, Webuye County Hosp, Pan Paper Guest Hses, Nyanges & adjacent customers.
Other parts of Bungoma County will experience power outages from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Part of CBD, OLDREX, Beula District Hosp, Kenya Police & adjacent customers.
Lamu
Parts of Lamu County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Whole of Lamu Island, Mokowe, MOA Village, Nyongoro & adjacent customers.
Tana River
Parts of Tana River County will experience power outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include; Hola Town, Masalani Town, Bura Town, Charidende Mkt & adjacent customers.
