Deputy Minority Whip and nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege now says her iPhone 14 was stolen when a scuffle erupted during a Parliament sitting on Thursday.

Sabina while speaking during the inaugural coffee conference in Meru County on Friday, asked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to intervene and help her get her phone back.

“Apart from beating me, they proceeded to steal my phone. It is an iPhone 14, and your Excellency our DP Rigathi Gachagua, I request for your intervention and support so that I can recover the phone. Those who stole the phone, please hand it back to me,” Chege said.

The scuffle in Parliament erupted following a standoff between Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Coalition and Kenya Kwanza legislators.

Speaker Wetangula was forced to adjourn the afternoon session for 20 minutes after a section of ODM MPs turned unruly as they disputed his decision not to remove Chege from her minority Whip position.

As a result, members Millie Odhiambo was suspended for two weeks, Rosa Buyu (two weeks), Chege (2 weeks), Fatuma Mnyazi (5 days), Catherine Omanyo (five days), Joyce Kamene (two sittings) and T.J Kajwang (two weeks).

Sabina who previously served as Murang’a Woman Representative, was nominated to Parliament on a Jubilee Party ticket after the August 9, 2022, polls.

Although she was a key supporter of Raila Odinga’s candidature during the campaign period, she has since joined President William Ruto’s allies.
