Rachael Ruto has congratulated her husband William Ruto following the Supreme Court judgement that upheld his election as Kenya's fifth president.

A seven-judge bench sitting at the Milimani Law Courts ruled on Monday, September 5, that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader was validly elected, dismissing a petition filed by the President-elect's main challenger Raila Odinga and six others.

Taking to social media, Mama Rachael said she was proud of Ruto.

Attributing the win to God's favour, Mama Rachel wished the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader God's guidance and wisdom as he prepares to assume the highest office in the land.

"Congratulations Bill my love. God has done it. I am proud of you! May He give you the grace & wisdom to lead Kenya into greatness! You were born & destined for this! Heb 10:23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm for God can be trusted to keep His promise," Rachael said.

On his part, Ruto shared a Bible verse to celebrate his victory at the Supreme Court.

He wrote, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” — Mark 10:27."

Supreme Court upholds Ruto's election

In a judgement read by Chief Justice Martha Koome on Monday, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the August 9 presidential election was conducted in line with the country’s constitution.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati had, on August 15, 2022, declared that Ruto won the election with 7,176, 141 votes, which is 50.49% of the total votes cast against Raila's 6, 942, 930 votes (48.85%).
