Roots Party of Kenya presidential candidate George Wajackoyah now says pregnant women will be given a stipend from the time they conceive should he win the presidency in the August 9 polls.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Wajackoyah said pregnant women will be regarded as state property once they are scientifically proven to be pregnant.

"We want to take care of the mother right from the time of inception to the time she gives birth. This is because we will have enough money from marijuana to take care of our women," he said.

Wajackoyah further said his government will give women leave from the time they conceive until the child is born and able to work.

"I will work with experts to determine how much time a woman needs to rest after conceiving and giving birth. I will consult Canadians who have got it right in taking care of women," he said.

Wajackoyah's increasing popularity

Wajackoyah has become a household name following his promise to legalise bhang if elected in August.

He insists bhang is the solution to revamping Kenya's ailing economy and settling the country's ballooning public debt.

The candidate is touted as a third horse in the race slated for August 9, 2022, with pundits saying he is likely to force a run-off.
