A senior detective who is accused of throwing his girlfriend from the balcony of his house based on the fourth floor of a building in Ngumba Estate has finally spoken out.

Kevin Amwayi an officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) refuted claims that he pushed his girlfriend Jackline Muthoni off the balcony which led to her death.

A detective privy to the ongoing investigations told K24 Digital that Amwayi was detained at the DCI Headquarters before he was handed over to officers at the homicide department who are supposed to arraign him in court today.

“He denied claims that he pushed the lady and said that she jumped off the balcony herself,” said the officer who spoke in confidence as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

In a turn of events, Muthoni’s family on Sunday night denied knowledge of the relationship between their daughter and the officer. According to them, they had met on Thursday, July 1, 2021.

In a police report seen by this reporter, the incident took place in the wee hours of Saturday, July 3, attracting a huge crowd.

Muthoni fell on the rear windscreen of the Nissan Tida and efforts to rush her to save her life by rushing her to Kenyatta National Hospital bore no fruits as she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The report was made by a guard known as Joshua Owiti who alerted the police over the incident but they never managed to catch up with the suspect.

Police further revealed that the couple has been having an off and on relationship.
