One person has lost his life after a tragic road accident that occurred along the Awasi-Kericho road.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the Saturday, February 25, 2023 incident unfolded when a tanker driven by the deceased and heading toward Kericho was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
At the time, the motor vehicle driver attempted to overtake another vehicle before colliding with the tanker.
Consequently, the two vehicles burst into flames. The driver of the motor vehicle escaped from the car with injuries.
However, the driver of the tanker which was empty at the time was trapped in the vehicle and burnt beyond recognition.
The other wounded driver was rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment.
"It happened that the motor registration number KCY 146l/zg7993 empty petroleum tanker was heading towards Kericho general direction when it was hit by a motor vehicle registration number KCQ 713A make faw which was overtaking unknown motor vehicle, collided head-on with the said oncoming vehicle and as a result, both vehicles burst into flames," the police report seen by K24 Digital reads in parts.
"The driver of the tanker was trapped inside the vehicle and was burnt beyond recognition. The other driver escaped with some injuries and was rushed to an unknown hospital," the statement added.
Police arrived at the scene to take necessary action.
