Shock and grief engulfed a police camp in Moyale after an officer shot and killed his colleagues before taking his life on Sunday, October 23, 2022.

In a police report seen by K24 Digital, the officer identified as Lawrence Kumber is said to have committed the heinous act after forcefully taking a firearm from a colleague. He first hit the colleague on the head before he took off with the firearm.

"PC Lawrence Kumber picked a huge stone and suddenly hit Odero on the forehead. After Odero fell down, Kumber picked up his rifle," the police report reads in parts.

Shortly after, Kumber headed to the armoury where he attacked his colleagues who were picking up arms for the day's duty.

He shot at three officers killing two on the spot and leaving one injured on the left shoulder.

"Upon reaching the armoury, Kumber shot at the in-charge lines killing him instantly, he also shot at PC Ezekiel Matete, killing him," the police report reads in parts.

"PC Kumber then went back to his house where he locked the door from inside and committed suicide by shooting himself in the chin," the report added.

The officers injured during the incident are currently receiving treatment at a nearby health facility while the bodies of the departed officer and his victims were transported to the Moyale Sub-County mortuary.

Police are yet to establish the motive behind the cause of the attack.
