Ngong police OCS injured after being shot by suspected robbers

Suspected armed robbers on Tuesday night shot and injured Ngong Police Station OCS.

K24 Digital has established that Philip Olenkindi was shot by four men believed to be robbers at 11 pm which is past curfew hours.

In a police report filed at Ngong Police Station, Olenkindi was on patrol with other officers namely; Benard Simiyu, Edward Rotich and CPL Mutuma within Kahara area inside a police landrover when they spotted the four.

“They encountered four suspicious men who were walking on foot towards Ngong Township. The police officers alighted from the Motor Vehicle to inquire on where they were going but they started firing at them,” the report read in part.

The four then started escaping towards Ngong Hills area but the officers were unable to nab them.

Officers pursued them but they disappeared into the nearby forest.

“Afterwards it was established that the OCS had been shot on the right shoulder and the bullet exited the back,” the report further read.

The officer was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital where he was immediately admitted and is being treated.

Police said that efforts to trace the assailants were ongoing.
