Fifteen people perished following a grisly road accident at Twin Bridge along Nakuru-Eldoret Road on Tuesday morning.
Confirming the accident, the National Police Service (NPS) said the crash involved two Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) operated by Classic Kings of Congo and North Ways Shuttle.
"15 people have died in a road traffic crash this night of 9/1/2024 at about 0245hrs at Twin Bridge area along Nakuru _ Eldoret, involving a bus belonging to Classic Kings of Congo and North Ways Shuttle Toyota Matatu," police said in a statement on X.
According to the law enforcers, the injured were rushed to the Molo Sub-County for treatment.
Meanwhile, the police called on drivers to exercise caution while on the road.
"NPS officers at Mau Summit Police Station responded to the scene. The injured were rushed to Molo Sub-County Hospital. The National Police Service is appealing to all motorists to exercise extreme caution on our roads to prevent road crashes," the statement added.
The accident occurred a day after another incident claimed two lives in Kisaju, Isinya, in Kajiado County.
The accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a truck carrying sand heading in the same direction.
According to eyewitnesses, during the time of the accident, the weather was very foggy, compromising visibility.
On the same day, another accident was reported in the Tegero area along Narok-Bomet, which involved a Toyota Hiace Matatu belonging to Transcar Galaxy Sacco and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck.
On January 6, there was an accident in Mustard area along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway that involved three Isuzu motor vehicles and a Mercedes Benz trailer. One life was lost, and several other passengers were injured.
