Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Alfred Mutua has emphasized the importance of effective service delivery to Kenyan citizens, urging his ministry and the State Department for Diaspora Affairs to collaboratively strive for this goal.

Mutua said this as they signed performance contracts for the fiscal year 2023/24 together with Sing'oei Korir, the Principal Secretary in the Office of Foreign Affairs, and Roseline Njogu, the PS Diaspora.

The CS highlighted that Kenyas have great hopes and demands from the Ministry and that they expect it to create fresh chances for them on a global scale.

Mutua stressed the important role that Kenyans living abroad play and how their contributions are significant.

"I urged both State Departments to work towards achieving the set goals to ensure service delivery to the Kenyan people. I emphasized that the Kenyan people had high expectations of the Ministry to open up new opportunities regionally and globally emphasizing the critical role of Kenyans in the Diaspora," he stated.

Mutua also called for unwavering dedication to advancing Kenya's interests in other countries. He stated that the focus should be on using economic diplomacy as a central and essential component of Kenya's foreign policy.

"I called for continued commitment in the pursuit of Kenya’s interest abroad with economic diplomacy now being at the heart of Kenya’s Foreign Policy," he added.

The Ministry has additionally disclosed its plan to conduct routine press conferences, commencing in September, aimed at updating the nation regarding foreign affairs and matters concerning the diaspora community.
