Kigumo Member of Parliament Joseph Munyoro has accused security agents of laxity in their work calling for a reshuffle in their placement.

Munyoro said the area which has reported increased cases of crime needs aggressive officers to deal with the offenders.

Speaking during the burial of a 90-year-old granny from Irura village in Muthithi who was murdered in cold blood 10 days ago, the MP said so far no suspect has been arrested in relation to the incident.

"We want the culprits who committed the crime to be arrested and I don't know why it has taken this long," he said.

The body of Mary Njeri was found in a thicket three days after she went missing from her home on 29th September.

Munyoro also said that another murder suspect is still at large. He claims that about a month ago a farm hand killed his employer and he is yet to be arrested.

"I hear this man is seen at a certain place and I believe the police have this information but have not taken any action," he lamented.

"We cannot have people killing each other and the suspects are roaming around yet there are law enforcers who are supposed to arrest them," the lawmaker added.

He said that he has requested the transfer of DCI Kigumo who he accused of sleeping on his job.

"I have raised this issue with the concerned officer but he has taken no action to have the suspects arrested," said the MP.

"We need an aggressive officer who will be able to act swiftly to investigate such cases and have the culprits arrested," he added.

The MP also called for concerted efforts to fight drug and alcohol abuse which is said to have contributed to the high crime rate in the area.

"We need a good strategy to help us fight this menace which is wasting away our young people," he said.
