A 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of her husband in Likoni, Mombasa.
The decomposing body of Becca Mwamburi, 55, was found at his house on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Police reports indicate that the deceased died under mysterious circumstances after a quarrel with his wife, Winnie Anyango, on Saturday.
In her police statement, the woman claimed that the man fell and hit a stone on the floor after a disagreement at around 8:00 pm.
She sought refuge at a friend's house but upon return to her matrimonial home, she found the husband dead.
A preliminary report by the police indicates that the deceased had a deep cut on the neck.
“The body of Becca was found decomposing in his house on Monday with a deep cut on the neck. The deceased wife alleged that they had had an argument on Saturday and at around 8:00 pm, the deceased fell down and hit a stone on the floor. She then went to seek help from the neighbour and found him dead,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.
Police said the woman was arrested after a blood-stained machete was recovered from the deceased's house.
Anyango was also found wearing a blood-stained T-shirt.
“The officers documented the scene and a machete with blood stain was recovered. The deceased wife was found wearing a blood-stained T-shirt,” the police report added.
The woman was placed in custody as investigations into the incident continue.
The body was moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
The incident comes a day after a man died after being assaulted by another man well known to him while in the company of his wife in Maseno, Kisumu county.
Police reports indicate Martha Akinyi and her husband Alex Omondi were on their way home from the market when Omondi was attacked by one Richard Onyango over an unknown matter.
He died while undergoing treatment at St. Monica Hospital and the body moved to the morgue awaiting autopsy.
