Police in Ndhiwa, Homabay County have launched investigations into the death of a Standard Seven pupil who was found dead and her body dumped in a sugarcane plantation.

The minor, who is reported to have gone missing on July 2, 2022, left her parents’ home to Uriri Market and never returned.

Confirming the incident, Kanyikela North Chief Elijah Abuto said the body of the girl was discovered by residents who were attracted by a foul smell emanating from the sugarcane farm.

“Residents who were passing near the sugarcane farm are the ones who discovered the body. They were attracted by the pungent smell that was coming from the place. The police have taken over and investigations launched,” Abuto said.

Minor raped

Preliminary investigations indicate she might have been raped before being killed.

The body was taken to Manyatta Kabondo awaiting a postmortem.

Elsewhere in Suna Location, Migori County, Chief has raised concerns over kids being used by gangs to steal from people.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Chief Ouba Oruko has called on the residents of his location to be keen with the kids who are looking for shelter claiming to be lost.

The chief says after the kids are given shelter, they organize with gangs and steal from their rescuers.

“After getting shelter from well-wishers the children then organize with the gangs who come and steal from the people who have given them shelter,” Ouba stated.
