A 22-year-old man from Mutsuma Village in Malava, Kakamega County committed suicide on Thursday night after he allegedly learnt that his wife had eloped with another man.

Vincent Wanjala’s body was on Friday morning found dangling from a rope tied to a tree within his parents-in-law’s compound at Lukume Village.

Sakina Wechuli, the deceased’s mother-in-law, said cleansing rites should be conducted to prevent curses from befalling her family.

They want the tree on which Wanjala killed himself be brought down after the owner is compensated.

The family of Wanjala’s wife, Beryl Isiaho, a mother of a six-month-old child, refuted allegations that their daughter was married to another man shortly after falling out with her husband.

Butsotso North chief, Wycliffe Kombo, confirmed the incident.
