A man who is suspected to have murdered his wife in cold blood early this year was on Tuesday evening arrested as he tried to sneak into Tanzania.

Hawk-eyed police officers nabbed the suspect identified as Hamatton Karisa who has been on the run for months now after he killed his wife in Bamba, Taita Taveta county.

He was arrested at the Lunga Lunga border point as he tried to sneak into Tanzania.

“In a murder most foul, the 35-year-old suspect is believed to have hacked his wife using a machete killing her on the spot,” a statement by the DCI read in part.

The statement further revealed that the couple has experienced a troubles marriage forcing the deceased Nehema George Karisa.

However, the deceased estranged husband walked into her parents compound saying that he was willing to settle the matter.

After hours of dialogue with the deceased parents he managed to convince her to return to their matrimonial home together with the baby.

The DCI said that little did the deceased know that her husband had snatched an evil plan to end the life of his ex-wife and was only leading him to a death trap.

Just an hour after they left the wife’s home the deceased lifeless body was found lying on a roadside at Bamba next to Jila Chief’s camp in a pool of blood.

Police said that the body had deep cuts at the back of the neck.

However, he never harmed the one year old baby who was found wrapped behind the back of the mother.

The suspect then went into hiding until he was spotted by a source who tipped the police about the happening.

He is expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
