The DCI officer in charge of Kipkelion in Kericho County, Chief Inspector Joseph Ngoche, has died.

Ngoche drowned on Friday after his motor vehicle of registration plate KAW 436B was swept away by floods near Mercy Girls’ Secondary School, which is located 3 kilometers from Kipkelion Police Station.

The DCIO, who was heading home at 8:30pm, was in the company of an unidentified woman, who also drowned, a report filed at the Kipkelion Police Station shows.

A seasonal river in Kipkelion had broken its banks following heavy rainfall, leading to flooding in areas near the watercourse.

Bodies of Ngoche and the female victim were retrieved by Kericho County firefighters and area residents.

The Late DCIO’s car was towed to Kipkelion Police Station.
