Kenya Power announces scheduled blackout for Sat**day

Kenya Power has issued a notice informing Kenyans of planned power interruptions today.

In a statement, the utility company said the planned interruptions will only affect Nairobi from 9 am to 5 pm.

Kenya Power said the interruption which will affect part of Dam ex Nairobi West is meant to allow their mechanics to replace fuse mounts, rotten poles and trace maintenance.

The latest comes a day after similar interruptions across three counties parts of Nairobi, Kisii, and Kiambu counties.

"Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.)," Kenya Power said.

In Nairobi, the interruptions affected areas such as Plains View Comply Industries, South B Chief’s Camp, South B Total Petrol Stn, NHIF Houses, South B Mosque, Bondo Rd, Kariba Est, River Bank Est, Part of Mariakani Est, Hazina Ests, Plains View Est, Part of Parkside View Est, ACK St. Veronica Catholic Church, Plainsview Junior Academy, Golden Gate Est, Aoko Rd, Balozi Est, Railway Training Institute, South B Shopping Centre, Balozi Est, Mater Hosp, Mariakani Est, Daidai Rd, Kapiti Rd, Highway Sec Sch, Elimu Sacco, South B Police Stn, KIMC, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Kenol Kobil Petrol Stn and adjacent customers.

The areas went without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Kisii, areas that were affected include Kegati Water, Nyamemiso, Part of Menyinkwa, Riamangera & adjacent customers. The areas were affected from 9 am to 3.30 pm.

Parts of Kiambu, that were affected include, Mwimto, Wangige, Kessel Homes, Gathiga, Njonjos Farm, Epic Apts and adjacent customers.

The areas were affected from 9 am to 5 pm.
