A Kenya Police recruitment candidate collapsed and died on Monday while doing push-ups in Webuye West, Bungoma County.

The 26-year-old potential recruit identified as Dennis Wamukota, who was among 300 candidates who turned up for the exercise at Bokoli Primary School, had just completed a 6km run.

After the run, the recruit candidates were ordered to do push-ups and that's when the recruiters noticed that he had ceased movement.

Wamukota was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bokoli Sub-County Medical Centre where medical officers from the Kenya Police took him for treatment.

His parents told K24 Digital that the 26-year-old was also undertaking an engineering course at the National Youth Service.

He had travelled home to participate in the Kenya Police recruitment in hope of advancing his career, his parents said.
