President William Ruto has arrived in New York, USA, for the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The annual event kicked off on Tuesday, September 20 and is set to close on September 27.

Ruto flew to New York from London where he attended the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II. He is set to address the high-level meeting on Wednesday.

The Head of State was accompanied by a delegation of leaders of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance on his first trip to the US since his inauguration last Tuesday.

The leaders include Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

Others in Ruto's entourage are former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and former Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba among others. Namwamba served as Head of International Relations in William Ruto's Presidential Campaign in the just concluded elections.

"Very privileged and honoured to accompany HE President William Ruto to the official opening of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, USA. The President will be addressing the General Assembly tomorrow," Murkomen captioned photos of the Kenya Kwanza leaders and the President.

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the United Nations.

The event offers a platform for the world to come together and address the most pressing global challenges.
