Some of this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in Homa Bay County have spoken out about their future ambitions.
Walcott Otieno Onyango who scored 422 marks at St Joseph’s Combined Academy in Rachuonyo South Sub-county says his dream is to become an archeologist.
Onyango said he hopes to join Alliance Boys High School to prepare him for his career of choice.
“I want to study hard and enroll for a university degree in archeology," Onyango said.
He attributed his success to proper guidance from his teachers and parents.
“My teachers guided me well to enable me to achieve good results,” said Onyango.
Another candidate John Charles who attained 403 marks at Janeiro Junior Academy in Rangwe Sub-county wants to become an aeronautical engineer.
He wants to join Mangu High School for his secondary education.
“I thank everybody who supported me to achieve good performance. I am going to work hard in secondary school.” He said.
Alphonce Oburah Nyabinda who hopes to join Alliance High School scored 411 marks at Echoes of Mercy Christian School in Rachuonyo East Sub-county. He dreams of becoming a doctor.
“I thank God and everyone who supported me to perform well in the exams. I promise to work hard in secondary education so that I can achieve my academic ambitions,” said Nyabinda.
Most parents of the top performers hailed teachers for their good work which enabled their son to achieve sterling performance.
“Many teachers went out of their way to help our children. Success in academics requires cooperation between parents and teachers," Onyango said, one of the parents.
