Government pathologist Johansen Oduor has recounted chilling details about the gruesome murder of Rita Waeni whose dismembered body was found in an apartment in Roysambu.

Speaking to the press on Friday, the pathologist expressed shock and disbelief over the way the 20-year-old's murder was executed saying he had never encountered such a case before.

"This is the first time I have come across such an incident. I have never come across such in my forensic life," Oduor stated.

He narrated that the killer cut her skin using a sharp object and sawed off the deceased with what looked like a hacksaw and attempted to clip off all her nails to remove traces of his DNA to hide evidence.

"When you look at the skin, it was cut by a sharp object but when you look at the bone it was sawed off with what looked like a hacksaw so this is a person who knew what he was doing.

"The suspect also tried to clip off to the fingernails for reasons I may not be able to know, it seems he was trying to hide the evidence so that we are unable to know," he added.

The pathologist also recounted that Waeni lost a significant amount of blood at the time of her death. He, however, stated that the remains of the nails collected have been sent for further analysis.

"You'll find that some of the fingernails were clipped but some of them are still intact so we took them for further analysis so that police can continue with investigations. We might get remnants of the perpetrator's DNA," he added.
